Plastering and Interior Decorating in Worthing, Lancing and Brighton

Lancing-based builders and landscapers covering Worthing, Brighton, Shoreham and the surrounding areas.

We skim, patch and finish internal walls and ceilings, then decorate them if you want the room handed back ready to use.

This suits rooms with cracked, uneven or artexed surfaces, walls damaged after removing fitted furniture, and anyone preparing a house for sale.

Rooms are sheeted and protected before we start, and the surface is prepared properly rather than filled and hoped for. You get a flat finish that takes paint evenly.

Why it matters

Getting it right the first time.

Many Worthing and Brighton homes have solid walls, old lath and plaster ceilings or layers of artex, and skimming straight over them without the right preparation or bonding coat leads to cracking and blown patches. Coastal properties also see more movement and damp, so any underlying cause needs sorting before the finish goes on. Paint will only ever look as good as the surface underneath it.

FAQs

Common questions.

Can you plaster over Artex?

In most cases yes. The surface is scraped back where needed, sealed with a bonding agent and then skimmed. Where the artex is very heavy we may overboard instead.

How long before I can paint new plaster?

Allow around one to two weeks to dry fully, then a watered down mist coat before your top coats.

How long does a room take to skim?

A standard bedroom is usually a day for walls and ceiling, plus drying time before decorating.

Will there be a lot of mess?

Floors and any remaining furniture are sheeted, and we clean and clear away at the end. Plastering is wet work but it should not leave the house dusty.

Can you fix cracks rather than skim the whole wall?

Yes, where the wall is otherwise sound. We will tell you honestly if patching will show through the paint.

Do you do the decorating as well?

We do. It is quoted separately so you can take on the painting yourself if you would rather.
